The USA Martial Arts Training Centers (USAMATC) are recognized worldwide as a leading organization in Martial Arts education.  With headquarters in St. Albans, WV, the USAMATC has over 7 locations in  West Virginia and many others throughout the United States.  Given the name “ Chong Shin Kwan “ by the Koreans which means “ true spirit school ‘’ , and “ Shoshin Kan “ by the Japanese, which means “ correct mind school “ , the USA Marital Arts Training Centers are truly well respected internationally.
The USAMATC offer a wider variety of programs than any other Martial Arts school in West Virginia.  Under the direction of Master Roger A. Jarrett, the USAMATC has grown to be West Virginia’s largest and most successful Martial Arts organization.
The USA Martial Arts Training Centers are recognized by many national and international Martial Arts organizations.  All of the Center’s instructors are professionally trained and certified.

The USA Martial Arts Training Centers are licensed to give instruction and certification in several Martial Arts which include:
TAE KWON DO and KARATE

At the USA Martial Arts Training Centers, the Korean art of Tae Kwon Do and the Japanese art of Karate Do are taught essentially combined together.  Both  arts stem from basically the same origins in China, but evolved slightly differently due to the influence of other Martial Arts and philosophies in the two different countries.  Both arts stress strong kicking and punching techniques.  The  Chong Shin Kwan style of Tae Kwon Do Karate, as taught by Master Jarrett, puts equal importance in both arts.

AIKIDO
Aikido is a very traditional Japanese Martial Art  that stresses harmony of the mind and body.  Aikido incorporates joint  locking and nerve control techniques together with dynamic  throwing techniques to control and subdue an opponent.  Aikido finds its roots in the Samurai fighting arts of feudal Japan.  Aikido is the most popular Martial Art taught for police and other defensive tactics programs.

JUDO and JUJITSU

Judo, which is the modern and refined form of  Jujitsu, is a very powerful Martial Art that teaches throwing, grappling, and choking techniques to control an opponent.  Today a very popular Olympic sport, Judo training, in one form or another, has become an essential part of anyone’s serious training in self-defense.

KOBUDO

Kobudo is the art of ancient oriental weapons training (specifically Okinawan) that involves such traditional weapons as the Bo, Sai, Nunchaku, Tonfa, and Kama.  The study of these old weapons helps develop an individuals’ strength and coordination as well as an ability and skill to turn many everyday objects into a weapon of defense if needed.

IAIDO

Iaido is the art of the Japanese Samurai sword.  An art that teaches immense concentration and self-discipline, Iaido has become a very popular Martial Art for people of all walks of life.  It is a journey back to the days of the Samurai of Old Japan that in modern times helps oneself relieve the stress of everyday pressures and develop a respect for life.

ADULTS

The USA Martial Arts Training Centers and the USA Martial Arts Federation is an affiliate member of the USA National Karate Do Federation which is the National Governing Body (NGB) for the sport of Karate in the United States as recognized by the United States Olympic Committee (USOC).

The USAMATC have produced some of the nation’s top Karate competitors. Over 40 of the Center’s students have become members of the USA Karate Team. Master Jarrett has produced many Pan American and World Champions.

Hanshi Jarrett also served for many years as both the Secretary General and as President of the USANKF. He is presently on the Board of Directors of the USANKF as well as the US Jujitsu Federation and the US Traditional Kodokan Judo Association. He was inducted into the USA Karate Hall of Fame for his work in getting Karate recognized as a Pan American Olympic Sport.
